What Sessions Are Best For Me?
If you are new to Audio Visual Entrainment (A.V.E.), then this helpful guide can get you started.
The goal of A.V.E. is real time entrainment to help guide the mind into a desired state while wearing the device. It is best used when a more normalized mental state is desired. Here are some suggestions based on common symptoms.
Every brain is different, and some sessions may work better than others. If you are looking for help with a specific symptom, we recommend you try each one shown for that symptom and see which one works best for you.
Is your goal right now to improve mood?
For mood issues – The mind may be producing too much Alpha or Theta. These are states of relaxation, dreaming or tuning out. Therefore, a session that produces more SMR or Beta activity may help transition to a more aware mental state. Here are some suggestions below.
Are you having issues with stress or tension?
Those with stress may have too much Beta activity above 18 hz. This may cause heightened emotions and muscle tension. Reducing Beta may help the mind relax and calm down.
Is your goal right now to reduce fatigue, tiredness or perk yourself up?
Those who are tired may be producing too much slow wave activity like Alpha or Theta. This can happen in the afternoon when the mind gets tired, tuned out or loses focus. Producing more Beta or SMR may help improve alertness and focus.
Is your goal right now better memory or cognition?
Some studies have shown that people with memory and cognition issues are not producing enough Gamma at certain frequencies. These session may produce more gamma to aid in cognition.
Is your goal getting to bed easier?
If you are having trouble getting to bed or winding down, it may be because of an abundance of Alpha or SMR. Elevated Alpha and SMR may inhibit the transition to Theta frequencies where the first stages of sleep are known to occur. Symptoms of too much Alpha and SMR may include rumination and an overactive mind. Producing more Theta may help aid in getting to bed easier.
Is your goal right now getting deeper sleep or waking up feeling refreshed?
For those who get to sleep but do not wake up feeling refreshed, this is may be the result of elevated Delta frequencies at night. scientific studies suggest that human growth hormone (HGH) production is closely tied to deep sleep, particularly the slow-wave sleep (SWS) stage, which is associated with delta brainwave activity. A deep Delta session looped all night may help those who don’t feel refreshed.
Is your goal right now better overall mental well being?
If you just want to improve your overall mental well being, or if you have issues but are not exactly sure what they are, then SMR sessions are a great place to start. SMR stands for Sensorimotor Rhythm. Also known as Lo Beta, SMR is a ready state that sites between your cognitive Beta state and your relaxed Alpha state. When in SMR, you can move up or down quickly, and are ready for either. Detail oriented people and those who are extremely organized are often producing optimal SMR frequencies.
The Nexus unit sessions are designed to help guide the mind into desired frequencies, which may improve mental states while using it. No long term or permanent benefits have been researched or implied. If you experience any discomfort while running a session, we recommend you discontinue use and consult your doctor.
