What Sessions Are Best For Me?
If you are new to Audio Visual Entrainment (A.V.E.), then this helpful guide can get you started.
The goal of A.V.E. is real time entrainment to get you into the desired state in the moment you use it. Continuous use may provide long term benefits, much like developing a new habit. But for most people, it is best used when you need to change your current state. Here are some suggestions based on common symptoms.
Every brain is different, and some sessions may work better than others. If you are looking for help with a specific symptom, we recommend you try each one shown for that symptom and see which one works best for you.
Is your goal right now to improve mood?
For mood issues – You are likely producing too much Alpha or Theta. These are states of relaxation, dreaming or tuning out. Therefore, a Beta stimulating session can be ideal to get you into a more aware mental state. Here are some suggestions:
Are you having issues with stress or tension?
For Stress issues – You are likely producing too much Beta above 18 hz, which is in the optimal range. This can cause heightened emotions and at higher frequencies, muscle tension. Reducing Beta and produce more Alpha is the key to helping the mind relax and calm down.
Is your goal right now to reduce fatigue, tiredness or perk yourself up?
You are likely producing too much Alpha or Theta. This common in the afternoon when we start to get tired, tune out or lose focus on tasks that do not interest us. In this case a Beta stimulating session would be ideal, as they will put you back into optimal Beta frequencies around 18hz.
Is your goal right now better memory or cognition?
Some studies have shown that people with memory and cognition issues are not producing enough Gamma at certain frequencies. A gamma booster may help. Here are some suggestions:
Is your goal right going to sleep easier?
If you are having trouble getting to sleep or winding down, you are likely producing too much Alpha or SMR, also known as Alpha Blocking. Alpha blocking prevents the transition to Theta frequencies where the first stages of sleep occur. Symptoms of high Alpha and SMR can include rumination and an overactive mind. Producing more Theta will help.
Is your goal right now getting deeper sleep or waking up feeling refreshed?
For those who get to sleep but do not wake up feeling refreshed, this is usually the result of high Delta frequencies during sleep cycles. Research has shown that more human growth hormone (HGH) is produced during deep Delta cycles. If the mind has too much fast Delta, it may not produce enough HGH, which means the brain and body may not get rejuvenated. In this case a deep Delta session looped all night may help the mind normalize its delta frequencies.
Is your goal right now better overall mental well being?
If you just want to improve your overall mental well being, or if you have issues but are not exactly sure what they are, then SMR sessions are a great place to start. SMR stands for Sensorimotor Rhythm. Also known as Lo Beta, SMR is a ready state that sites between your cognitive Beta state and your relaxed Alpha state. When in SMR, you can move up or down quickly, and are ready for either. Detail oriented people and those who are extremely organized are often producing optimal SMR frequencies.
